There is so much buzz going on around big data, dashboards, metrics, etc.. Companies are implementing BI solutions in-house or in the cloud. Before you select any BI solution ask yourself these questions:

• Will this solution allow me to see everything within my organization?
• Will this solution allow me to determine when I want to see updates?
• Will this solution notify me of situations before it’s too late?
• Will this solution allow user to easily understand what is being presented?
• Will the data displayed allow users to make informed decisions?
• Will the solution show trending data?
• Will the solution allow me to see if we’re hitting present & future objectives?

If the solution you are currently looking at doesn’t allow you to say yes to all the questions above then it’s not the right solution for you. Don’t implement a solution just because it has a big name like SAP or Microsoft by it. Don’t implement a solution that can’t meet your needs as your company grows.
